Post subject: Slide quit working
We got back from camping this afternoon and started to unload. When we hit the switch to slide out nothing. I have checked the fuse and it is good not sure where to look next, the switch or the motor any advice would be great.

Do you have a 12 volt circuit tester, Steve? If not they're only a few bucks at parts stores. 12 volt systems are fairly simple.
Ive never worked on any slide system, but Id probably start by checking for power at the motor if its easy to get to. If no power there then backtrack the wire till you find the problem.
If the switch is easily accessible, you may want to start there instead. Dont forget when you check for power downstream of the switch, the switch will have to be pushed in.
Also, you can check for power at the fuse with the tester....just to be sure power is making it to the fuse, and through it.

Well I got into it and had power at motor, so I pulled it. After talking to Chuck I put it on battery and it runs fine. Got my volt meter out and it's bad. So I'm going today to get a new one and check amps at motor. So not real sure yet. I do know we are still heading to the the mountains week after next.

Hi, it would probably either the switch or the wiring system, check to see any wires has shorted or been disconnected. It probably isn't the motor. When it has never given you any trouble. Hope this helps

Well after much procrastanating and some research, the slide is working! It turns out that just because when you bump a 12 volt motor on a battery and it runs does not mean it works properly. As the motor goes bad it takes more voltage to run. Got a new motor and wired it up and it works like a dream. Now if I can only get my truck back, we will be ready to camp.

Glad to hear that problem has been solved. Any idea when the truck will be finished?
