Post subject: camper service
The refrigerator in my camper is not working, and the trailer is still under warranty. After reading reviews on camping world service, I am somewhat afraid to take it there for the repair. My main concern is getting it back in a timely manner. Because I am in Chattanooga, the location is very convenient. Any thoughts on camping world service or alternatives?
Thank you,
Jean Ann

Can you provide any information on what you observe?
Do you get any indicator light flashes?
Does it not work on both electric and gas or just one of them fails?
Is it a Norcold or Dometic refrigerator?

The refrigerator is a Norcold. I've only operated it on electric. The freezer works great. The fridge worked fine when I first used it last year, but as this year has progressed it doesn't seem to cool at all except to capture some cool temps from the freezer if it's cool outside and the door remains closed. The refrigerator is not on the Norcold recall list.

Dunlap RV in Lebanon, TN is one of the few Jayco dealers I know of in upper middle Tennessee. That's where I bought my current RV. They are family owned and have grown to four locations in TN, GA, and KY. The Lebanon location is a brand new sales and service facility that they just recently moved into. I haven't needed any work done but if I did I would probably check with them first since they're an authorized Jayco dealer and are familiar with the Jayco line.
When I took delivery of my RV it had a water pump problem and they swapped it with a new one while we continued our walk through. When we were done the new pump was already in and ready. Nothing hard about a water pump but I was impressed that they pulled a service tech in immediately so that we could still take the RV that day vs. waiting for that pump to be replaced.
Another place that handles a lot of RVs is Cullum and Maxey (very close to Opryland Hotel and right next to a Camping World). They have been around a very long time and I believe they do a large amount of service work. However, I imagine that they get very booked up and could have a lengthy wait time for service appointments.

Thank you for the information. After talking to the Chattanooga service department, I think that I'll take it in for a diagnostic, let them order parts, and then go pick it up and use it until they get the part.

Sure. I wasn't sure where you were located. Nashville is a bit of a trip vs. Chattanooga. Dunlap RV also has a location in Ringgold, GA which might be closer if you need to find another place.
