Post subject: Big Meadow Family Campground
Townsend, TN

Townsend is a location in the Smoky Mountains that allows one to visit the area while avoiding some of the high traffic areas close by. Cades Cove was a pleasant 30 minute drive away.
My campsite had full hook ups, gravel drive with a concrete pad and picnic table, cable tv connection, reliable internet connection, and a couple of small shade trees. Campsites are fairly close together. The bathhouse was very clean. Check out their website for amenities and rates.
Across a two lane public road is the Little River. The river is stocked with trout and there is a tubing rental company next door.
I enjoy walks when I'm camping, especially if I take my dog, Sheba. The roads around the campground are two lane and quite busy at times, yet if one is willing to carefully navigate, a nice paved walking and bike path is right up the road.
There are many campgrounds to choose from in the Smokies. I plan to return to Big Meadow Family Campground.Image

Another thumbs up for Big Meadow Campground. We've camped there 3-4 times and always have a good time. Last time we went was about 4 years ago, with a new born baby, it was a short trip haha. We're gonna try to make it back this fall.

I've been to Townsend for a vacation before we ever owned an RV. We loved it there. We want to visit the Smokies with the RV and this might be the place to go!

I have talked to folks that have been there and they say it is nice. Right across from the river rat tubing. We are in the smokeys right now.
